I Couldn't Have Said It Better

See. Christians aren't the only ones who are sick of atheism.

"Garlic and sapphires in the mud
Clot the bedded axle-tree."
-T.S. Eliot, "Burnt Norton"

Why? Because...

"...be ready always to give a defense to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you..." I Peter 3:15

"While [Christianity] is deliberately broadened to embrace every aspect of truth, it is still stiffly embattled against every mode of error."
-G.K. Chesterton, from "The Everlasting Man"

"Throw your soul's fresh, glowing ardor
Into the battle for truth.
Jesus has set the example:
Dauntless was He, young and brave."
-Howard B. Grose

"True religion is not a series of guesses at truth, but 'we speak what we do know, and testify what we have seen.' That which your experience has proved to you, that which you have clearly seen to be the word of God, that which the Spirit beareth witness to in your consciousness, that hold you with [an] iron grasp."
-Charles H. Spurgeon

I Believe...

I believe the heart is more than a muscle.
I believe that life is more than survival.
I believe that the sensuous curtain is not a cheat.
I believe in darkness, and a Light that can pierce it.
I believe in the mythical.
I believe in magic.
I believe the fantastic can be real.
I believe redemption has stories to tell.
I believe in the Reality of Truth.
I believe in the Reality of Redemption.
I believe in sacrifice.
I believe in desolation and glory.
I believe in the "crucifixion of the soul."
I believe we walk on a knife-edge between Heaven and Hell.
I believe in two kingdoms, one is darkness and one is light.
I believe books are better than TV.
I believe movies are better than TV.
I believe hand written is better than e-mail.
I believe the Bible pwns all other wisdom.
I believe in narrowness.
I believe in seeing only one truth, one way, and one life.
I believe that a fractured perspective is the worst kind of slavery.
I believe in Logocentrism.
I believe in being intolerant (because some things are just stupid).
I believe political correctness is the cancer of the West.
I believe Modern Christendom is the cancer of the Church.
I believe Jesus Christ knows more about human beings than Dr. Phil and Oprah combined.
I believe in the power of words.
I believe in the power of choice.
I believe in the responsibility of freedom.
I believe in virtue and honor.
I believe peace is maintained by crushing the peace breakers.
I believe peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of justice.
I believe virginity is a badge of honor.
I believe in relationship over works.
I believe in paradox (life through death, freedom through submission, strength through weakness).
I believe friendship is more than mere acquaintance.
I believe love is more than merely sex.
I believe sex is more than a mere biological function.
I believe in the Reality of Sin.
I believe in a fallen world.
I believe in the Resurrection, and the resurrection of the dead.
I believe masculinity is more than egotism, idiocy, and beer.
I believe femininity is more than sex, manipulation, and curves.
I believe that being pure and having fun are not mutually exclusive concepts.
I believe in the sacramental.
I believe in the Incarnation.
I believe in communion.
I believe in Co-inherence.
I believe in the Trinity, a.k.a. the Great Dance.
I believe Christianity is more than a religion, God more than a supernatural being, and Jesus more than a prophet.
I believe in faith and common sense.

And I believe pie is better than cake.

Memphis, TN, United States
How ya doin'? I'm a Christian cultural apologist with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (with a minor in Biblical Studies) from Crichton College and a Master of Arts in Literature from the University of Memphis. I consider myself a student of G.K. Chesterton, the Inklings, and Oswald Chambers (among others). My desire is that of Tolkien: to write and publish, not to make a vast fortune, but to awaken people to the wonder and calm of the world of the Ever After. I am a believer in true beauty, an intolerant despiser of all things ugly and false, a Dark Fantasy Realist, an ardent Logocentrist, a hardcore Trinitarian, a Sacramental Protestant, an aspiring author, a frustrated rockstar, and a lover of pie. I believe I can be anyone's friend while remaining an orthodox Christian. I believe political correctness is the cancer of the West, I believe Modern Christendom is the cancer of the Church, and I believe the redemption of Christ is the objective reality that makes sense of the world. I am Christian in belief, Protestant in tradition, and Presbyterian in denomination, in that order.
